BIBLE STUDY - TOOLS - CHRISTIAN RESOURCES
          Translations
                 Koine Greek is the language of the earliest existent autographs--but, even scholars take time to
                 determine an accurate rendering due to this language's syntax, vocabulary, and idioms - writings from
                 2000 years ago. How about a "literal" English translation - is there really such a thing? The NASB and
                 ESV are as close as we have in word-for-word "literal" English translations, yet they are also "adjusted"
                 for English sentence structure (syntax) so that we can understand the meaning--doesn't that change the
                 meaning!? How about a sound, English version for understanding the writer's intent? Is a
                 paraphrased version OK for casual reading? Should I get a NIV or KJV - how about an interlinear? What
                 is an "Amplified" version anyway? If only one English translation is acceptable, what about those speaking
                 and using a different language?

                 These are all valid issues and serious considerations. Before we "stake" a position, let's take a moment
                 to consider the value of God's Word in any language or point in history--for our brothers and sisters who
                 speak English, Spanish, or Russian - today - or 500 years ago!
